With the future for “The Girl Who Played With Fire” still uncertain—“Seven” screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker was reported to have taken a crack at the script last summer—and only “Bond 24” to look forward to, Daniel Craig doesn’t have a lot on his plate, but Variety reports that’s about to change. According to the trade magazine, Craig has attached himself to the Nicholas Kazan-scripted thriller “The Whole Truth.” As it stands now, not much is known about the film nor when production is planned, especially since Craig is set to jump back into a tuxedo later this year for the “Skyfall” follow-up which is set for release in 2015. But Baz Bamigboye notes it will be directed by “Frozen River” helmer Courtney Hunt.
Last fall we found out “Gattaca” director Andrew Niccol was teaming up with Ethan Hawke again for an untitled drone thriller that sees the “Before Midnight” actor play a Las Vegas-based drone pilot who begins to question the morality of his job. Now, per Deadline, we know that the title is “Good Kill” and that “Mad Men” actress January Jones will play Hawke’s wife alongside her “X-Men: First Class” co-star Zoe Kravitz, Jake Abel and Bruce Greenwood as Hawke’s crewmates and his superior, respectively. “Good Kill” will begin shooting in New Mexico next month after taking a break in production.
THR reports “Like Crazy” actress Felicity Jones is in talks to star in the long-brewing period comedy “Rosaline,” which puts a “comedic and revisionist” twist on the iconic “Romeo & Juliet” story by telling it from the eyes of “Romeo’s first love, whom he dumps for her cousin, Juliet.” Shawn Levy is producing the comedy for Universal, with “(500) Days Of Summer” screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber handling scripting duties and Tony-nominated director Alex Timbers set to make his feature-film directorial debut at the helm. Based on the 2012 Rebecca Serle novel “When You Were Mine,” the film has already gone through many leading ladies like Lily Collins, Allison Williams and Hailee Steinfeld—who left for a more faithful take on the Shakespearean play—so hopefully the fourth time’s the charm for the slow-developing project.
Though we essentially wrote him off last summer, Topher Grace is getting a second wind of sorts over the past six months with landing a part in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming “Interstellar” and starring in a pilot for HBO. His upward trend continues with news—via THR—that the former sitcom star will topline his very own haunted house movie. Produced through Jason Blum’s Blumhouse with the weight of Leonardo DiCaprio and Graham Kin behind it, “Home” will see the screenwriter and director of the 2009 “Last House On The Left” remake—Adam Alleca and Dennis Iliadis, respectively—reunite for a story that “centers on a man (Grace) recently released from a mental institute, who inherits a mansion after his parents die. After a series of disturbing events, he comes to believe it is haunted.” Patricia Clarkson is also circling the project in an as-of-yet unknown role.
Lastly, Adrien Brody will take the lead in “Manhattan Nocture,” based on the 1996 novel by Colin Harrison. Brian DeCubellis wrote and will direct the film that will follow “a devoted husband and accomplished journalist who is asked by a seductive stranger to dig into the unsolved murder of her husband.” Yvonne Strahovski, Campbell Scott and Jennifer Beals will co-star according to Variety.
