I don’t think we should expect a massive love fest between the current group of wrestlers-turned-actors as egos tend to flare up like muscle memory in the ring when these guys get a whiff of each other’s scent. Take Dave Bautista for example. He didn’t sound very interested when a fan on Twitter mentioned him as the third addition to a hypothetical film featuring Dwayne Johson and John Cena.
Dave Bautista bluntly responding on Twitter when asked if he’d love to do a collaboration with the other two wrestlers-tuned actors. “Nah, I’m good,” he said.
The comment comes as a response to an “F9” interview John Cena did with Complex News, stating he’d be game to work with fellow “Fast & Furious” franchise star Dwayne Johnson on an unnamed film project if the logistics could be worked out given their busy schedules.
“As somebody who enjoys entertainment, I think you setting that stage; I’m immediately intrigued. I feel as if that would be entertaining. There’s a lot more than my opinion that gonna have to work to connect those dots, but I think it would be entertaining. So, I’m in,” John Cena responded to Complex on the idea of working with Dwayne Johnson on the big screen.
Flatout stating he wants nothing to do with that idea is equally humorous as it is honest. This comes after Bautista previously scoffed at the idea of joining the two in the “Fast & Furious” films with another Twitter post from 2019, dragging the quality of those films in the process.
Bautista can be brutally honest in interviews and on social media, he was quite vocal about ending his working relationship with Disney after they fired James Gunn over past Twitter posts and has since suggested that he’ll be ending his run as Drax The Destroyer with Gunn’s “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3.”
He certainly has a reason to have a chip on his shoulder at this point with the success of his Netflix zombie flick “Army of The Dead,” appearing as an antagonist in Denis Villeneuve‘s sci-fi epic “Dune” this fall, and is currently working on Rian Johnson‘s sequel to “Knives Out” starring alongside a fantastic group of actors such as Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr., and Jessica Henwick, and newcomer Madelyn Cline.
The big fellas are also doing just fine without Bautista’s help, Johnson is about to wrap on his DC Comics film “Black Adam” in Atlanta, and John Cena is said to complete the principal photography on his “The Suicide Squad” spinoff series “Peacemaker” at HBO Max next month in Vancouver.
