Dave Franco & Christopher Mintz-Plasse Join Seth Rogen & Zac Efron In 'Townies'

nullWhile his last film “The Guilt Trip” proved to be something of a box-office disappointment, Seth Rogen remains as busy as ever: his directorial debut “The End Of The World” hits later in the summer, he’s guest-starring on the new season of “Arrested Development,” and only yesterday, lined up another potential helming project with partner Evan Goldberg, comedy-thriller “The Interview.

But before he can move on to that, Rogen’s got to shoot “Townies.” Directed by “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Five-Year Engagement” filmmaker Nicholas Stoller, the film sees Rogen as a family man who comes into confrontation with a group of local frat boys that live near his house. Set to be an R-rated comedy, and produced by Rogen and Goldberg, the film already has Zac Efron on board as Rogen’s chief adversary, and now Deadline report that he has a couple of co-stars, in the shape of Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Franco is steadily becoming more and more high-profile, thanks to films like “21 Jump Street” and “Warm Bodies,” and due to Rogen’s friendship with his older brother James, has presumably hung out with Rogen in the past. Mintz-Plasse certainly has: he made his name as McLovin in Rogen’s “Superbad,” and has managed to avoid being a one-hit wonder with parts in “Role Models,” “Kick-Ass” and “Fright Night,” among others. Perhaps more importantly, they have proven chemistry, having made a series of Funny or Die sketches together (watch one below, along with a SXSW short the pair starred in) The pairs join Rogen, Efron and Rose Byrne, who will play Rogen’s wife, and filming gets underway soon.
