Yes, Jamie Foxx has a new Netflix sitcom on the way, but that doesn’t mean the Oscar-winning actor is done with film. Far from it. And it appears that he’s beginning to round out the cast for his upcoming Netflix action film, “Day Shift.”
According to Deadline, Dave Franco is joining the cast of “Day Shift” opposite Jamie Foxx. In the film, written by Tyler Tice and directed by first-time filmmaker, J.J. Perry, Foxx stars as a suburban dad that serves as a pool cleaner by day and a vampire hunter by night. Also joining the cast are Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Oliver Masucci, Steve Howey, and C.S. Lee.
Franco is probably best known for his comedic films, including the “Neighbors” franchise, as well as “Now You See Me” and “21 Jump Street.” However, he’s no stranger to thrillers, having appeared in “Nerve” and “6 Underground.” He also recently directed his first feature, “The Rental,” which is a horror-thriller.
Another interesting aspect to “Day Shift,” outside of the solid cast is that the film is produced by Chad Stahelski and his 87Eleven production company. This is the same action company that produced “John Wick,” “Atomic Blonde,” and the recent action film, “Nobody.” And given the involvement of 87Eleven, even if the story isn’t solid, viewers automatically know they’re going to see some truly great stunt work.
Jamie Foxx is no stranger to Netflix, either. As mentioned, he has a new sitcom debuting soon. But last year, he starred in the streaming service’s action film, “Project Power,” which is a genre thriller that apparently found a pretty big audience on the platform. In addition to “Day Shift,” Foxx is also developing a series about the life and career of Mike Tyson.
