David Holmes To Score Cillian Murphy Irish Gangster Comedy, 'Perrier's Bounty'

As mentioned earlier today, more than a few times, musical connections abound at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.

We were wondering when in blazes Steven Soderbergh was going to team-up with David Holmes again, the cocktail electronic producer behind the excellent and grossly underrated score to the the ‘Oceans 11-13’ series. And while Soderbergh did use almost half a dozen Holmes tracks in “The Girlfriend Experience,” no original score was to be found (instead that gig went to Morecheeba musician Ross Godfrey who did a great job on the otherwise distant and aloof film). But another filmmaker, Ian FitzGibbon, has tapped the evocative beatmakers musical genius to score the Irish gangster revenge comedy, “Perrier’s Bounty.” It sounds interesting and if you’re wondering, yes, Holmes is also Irish. Here’s the synopsis:

When Michael’s (Cillian Murphy) debt to Dublin kingpin Darren Perrier (Brendan Gleeson) is called in and one of Perrier’s goons accidentally ends up dead, Michael escapes to the mountains with his father Jim (Jim Broadbent) and best friend, Brenda. Flat broke, on the run and with only 24 hours to pay up, Michael is forced to confront his true feelings for Brenda and make amends with his father. However, with Perrier and his gang in hot pursuit, time is running out for Michael and only fate, a bit of luck and possibly a gang of savage dogs will save him, in this cracking gangster comedy.

Directed by Ian FitzGibbon (“Spin the Bottle”), “Perrier’s Bounty” stars Cillian Murphy, Jodie Whittaker, Jim Broadbent and Brendan Gleeson. The picture will premiere some time during TIFF which runs Sept 10-19.
