David Lynch Creates Eerie, Viral Clip For Danger Mouse/Sparklehorse Collaboration

We’ve already discussed the Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse (née Brian Burton and Mark Linkous) collaboration called Dark Knight Of The Soul (or maybe that’s the album title? They once joked the group would be called Dangerhorse since Sparklemouse was too comical).

The forthcoming album, which still appears to have no release date yet, has a panoply of guest stars including Black Francis (aka Frank Black of the Pixies), Julian Casablancas of the Strokes, Vic Chesnutt, The Flaming Lips, James Mercer of The Shins, Iggy Pop, Gruff Rhys of the Super Furry Animals, Jason Lytle formerly of Grandaddy, Nina Person of the Cardigans and A Camp and Suzanne Vega .

Of course mostly of interest to us is the fact that filmmaker David Lynch is doing the visuals for the album. He designed the poster featured here, which doesn’t seem like much, but a closer look reveals something a little bit more characteristically creepy.

Anyhow, we were sent a video snippet/viral promo clip today titled, “Dark Night of the Soul,” and it looks very Lynchian and also includes at the end what appears to be another poster with a rasterized shot of Lynch, a horse and Burton in his trademark mouse costume. Check it out. It’s an odd and fascinating 16 seconds long.
