Filmmaker David Lynch and actor Kyle MacLachlan took some time off prepping the revival of “Twin Peaks” to contribute to a new short film, “A New Sunrise Over Sunset.” The short, directed by fashion photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis, serves as an introduction to the not yet opened The James West Hollywood – Sunset hotel and was made in conjunction with The David Lynch Foundation.
Split into three movements — “connection,” “consciousness,” and “community” — the film showcases the brand new hotel while also having musicians James Faunterloy and Nia Andrews, among others, talk everything from emotional wellness to spiritual transformation. Lynch even shows up at one point on a TV screen to discuss the transformative sunlight in Los Angeles. The “new age” vibe is not surprising given The David Lynch Foundation’s focus on transcendental meditation. While the film was not directed by Lynch, it has his trademark surreal images and features narration by both Lynch and MacLachlan. [Consequence Of Sound]
