David O. Russell To Direct Pilot For CBS Legal Drama Produced By Robert De Niro

nullDavid O. Russell isn't always known for having the healthiest relationships with the stars in his films, but it seems he and Robert De Niro got along just fine on the set of the upcoming "Silver Linings Playbook." And the two will collaborate on a new project that will take them to the small screen.

Russell will direct a pilot for a legal drama over at CBS, which De Niro is producing, marking his first foray into television. Penned by the talented Danny Strong ("Game Change," "Recount," "The Butler"), the series will be inspired by the father-and-daughter defense attorneys Murray and Stacey Richman. The pair are known for handling cases for high-profile clients ranging from musicians, politicians and crime world figures, and helping them beat some serious charges. Frankly, that sounds like a good premise for a weekly legal procedural, and certainly someone of Russell's calibre coming in to steer it in the right direction is a good start.

No word yet on casting or when it might roll, but until then, you can watch Errol Morris' interview with real deal Murray Richman from his "First Person" series below. [Deadline]
