David Tennant Is Killgrave In 'Jessica Jones,' X-Men Live Action TV Series In The Works, & More

David Tennant KillgraveSo you think there’s too many blockbuster comic book movies? Well, don’t even think about seeking refuge by watching television. It has become the latest outlet teeming with capes and spandex, and it’s not stopping anytime soon.

Over at Netflix, Marvel has a slate of shows in the works, with "Daredevil" kicking off this spring. Not far behind will be the Krysten Ritter-led "Jessica Jones," and the show now has a villain: Killgrave. Former "Doctor Who" star David Tennant takes the role of "an enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past whose reappearance will send shockwaves through the former superhero’s world." The show is expected to debut on the streaming service later this year. [THR]

Not to be left behind, Fox is starting to put the wheels in motion on an "X-Men" live action series. It’s in the very early stages, but Patrick McKay and JD Payne ("Star Trek 3") are writing scripts, with Evan Katz and Manny Coto ("24") producing, though Marvel needs to sign off before any further development. Back in the movie world, Daniel Bruhl‘s role in "Captain America: Civil War" has been revealed, and a casting call sheet says he take the role of Baron Zemo. The character was once rumored to be a villain in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which did not take place. In the comics, the character has been most often played as a Nazi scientist, has led the Masters Of Evil supergroup, and has consistently been one of Cap’s arch-foes. [io9]

Talk of "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2," due in 2017, has been swirling since the moment the first movie opened last summer, and while James Gunn has spoken in broad strokes about the sequel, here’s what he would allow: Ronan, played by Lee Pace, will not be back. “Who knows,” Gunn said when asked if Ronan is gone for good. “But not in 2, no.” [EW
