David Yates & Susanna White Circling 'Tarzan' At Warner Bros.

nullUpdate: Reps for Gary Ross inform us that he is not pursuing the Tarzan project at Warner Bros.

With one "Tarzan" movie already shooting, a sure to be terrible 3D/CGI concoction starring Kellan Lutz and Spencer Locke, Warner Bros. is still pressing forward with their own, new big screen version on the guy who swings on vines and beats his chest. And for some reason three filmmakers who should know better are circling.

Buried in a Deadline report about screenwriter Adam Cozad signing to CAA, the site reveals that David Yates, Gary Ross and Susanna White are all kicking the tires on the movie for some reason. Of all people WB would like to have, we'd guess Yates is their favorite, having made them a kajillion dollars thanks to 'Harry Potter,' but he's also linked to their massive gangster franchise "Cicero" with Tom Hardy attached to lead, that last we heard, was aiming to gear up next year. But maybe Yates has a thing for the character. As for Gary Ross, he recently bowed out of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" for a variety of reasons, one of them being to try and get some of his own projects off the ground. This would be an interesting detour, though we suppose we could see him being interested. As for White, she's probaby the most affordable, though the mostly TV helmer ("Generation Kill," "Bleak House") doesn't quite have the blockbuster experience WB may want. But really guys? "Tarzan"? Y'all can do better than this.

But hey, Warner Bros., you're not off the hook either. "Hustle & Flow" director Craig Brewer has his own script he handed in for you guys for a rival "Tarzan" project. And dude seems keen to direct it too. Why not give him the gig?
