For those not attuned to geek culture, DC Comics’ streaming service DC Universe launched a couple weeks back. The streaming service is the latest attempt at a company trying to bypass the typical studio/network model of distribution and bring the latest, greatest DC superhero content directly to the consumer. The flagship title of the new service is the upcoming TV series “Titans.” However, if you’re out of the US, then a DC Universe subscription won’t be required to watch the dark, superhero series.
Variety reports that Netflix has bought the international rights to “Titans.” The series follows Dick Grayson, aka Robin, and the rest of his team as they help a young girl deal with her blossoming superpowers and their own CW-esque drama. If you’re a fan of what the CW is doing with its Arrowverse, then “Titans” looks to be right up your alley. Oh, that is if you don’t mind your superheroes saying, “Fuck Batman.”

Netflix will release “Titans” to every country other than the United States and China, as the latter doesn’t allow the service. This series is yet another example of Netflix purchasing international rights to series, and releasing them as a “Netflix Original.” For non-US fans, the streaming service is where you get can watch “Riverdale,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” and another DC series, “Black Lightning.”
In addition to the news of “Titans” joining Netflix, the company kicked off the partnership with a new international trailer. And while the first trailer for the series was polarizing, considering the graphic violence and language, the international Netflix trailer tones everything down and presents a clearer look at what the superhero show might actually be about.
“Titans” launches on DC Universe, with its first episode, on October 12, with weekly episodes following. Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for “Titans” as of now.
