'Death Wish' Trailer: Bruce Willis Wants Revenge

This fall, there will be all kinds of movies bumping elbows as they fight for awards season recognition. So, you might feel the need to take in something a little less taxing. Well, it doesn’t get more brainless than “Death Wish,” which arrives with vengeance on its mind.

This is a remake of the iconic Charles Bronson movie from 1974, which followed a man who winds up seeking vengeance, after his wife is killed and his daughter is sexually assaulted during a robbery. A former conscientious objector the Korean War, the man soon becomes comfortable dispensing justice with a trigger. Directed by Eli Roth, and starring Bruce Willis, it’ll be interesting to see what elements carry over from the original film and the book it’s based on, but it’s going to be gritty as heck, as the Joe Carnahan penned movie is walking into multiplexes with an R-rating.

“People that are fans of my other movies will not be disappointed when they go to see ‘Death Wish’ but it’s not ‘Hostel 4,’ ” Roth told Yahoo Movies about his approach. “ ‘Man on Fire‘ is not a body count movie. ‘Unforgiven‘ is not a body count movie. ‘Sicario‘ is not a body count movie. ‘[A] History of Violence,’ ‘Eastern Promises,’ these are all the inspirations… I wanted to make an awesome action-revenge [movie].”

Co-starring Vincent D’Onofrio, Dean Norris, and Jack Kesy, “Death Wish” opens on November 20th.
