All movies go through script changes, especially franchises with as many moving parts as the MCU. So when screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, as well as Anthony and Joe Russo took to social media for a watch party of both “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” the result was a series of fun behind the scenes stories and ideas that almost made it to the final movie, including Doctor Strange wearing Iron Man’s suit.

As noted by THR, Markus and McFeely took over the ComicBook.com Twitter account, and revealed that there were several different versions of the scene where Iron Man and Spider-Man rescue Doctor Strange from Thanos’ henchmen. One of the versions apparently would have resulted in Doctor Strange wearing Tony Stark’s nano-suit, with the Eye of Agamotto at the center of the armor instead of the Arc Reactor.
Likewise, McFeely noted that at one point, Iron Man traveled with Thor to Asgard to collect two of the Infinity Stones in “Endgame.” This resulted in Tony wearing an invisible stealth suit and fighting Heimdall, but the scene was scrapped because “Tony has no emotional connection to Heimdall.” Even crazier was a scrapped scene where Nebula and War Machine land on Morag while the planet is underwater, which forced them to battle a giant sea monster.
Perhaps the most curious anecdote revealed during the watch party involved the Oscar-nominated Paul Thomas Anderson. As told by Robert Downey Jr. Anderson was so moved by “Avengers: Endgame” that he decided to record fan reactions in the theater to remind him of “the power of cinema.” Who knew Anderson was the type to pull out a cellphone during a movie?
