Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, casual dating and spontaneous international trips are on pause for most people — that makes seeing them on screen the perfect escape this summer. What better way to do that than from the comfort and safety of your own living room? Enter Netflix’s “Desperados.”

The film follows Nasim Pedrad (“New Girl”) as she meets the perfect man after years of dealing with the struggles of modern dating. But things go astray as soon as she believes her new boyfriend commits the number one sin of dating — ghosting. After a night of drinking away her feelings with her best friends (“Pitch Perfect” star Anna Camp and Sarah Burns from “Barry“) she herself commits a big dating no-no and drunkenly emails him. But once she realizes he never intended to ghost her, she and her friends catch the first flight to Mexico to delete the email before he sees it.

The film reunites Pedrad with her former television husband Lamorne Morris (“New Girl”). Robbie Amell (“Upload”) and Heather Graham are featured in “Desperados,” as well. While the film boasts some familiar faces behind the camera, two newcomers took of the mantles of writer and director, respectively. First-time film writer Ellen Rapoport penned “Desperados.” LP takes the helm as director in her feature film debut.

On arrival, they run into her former beau (Lamorne Morris), who soon gets caught up in their frantic scheme. Desperados also stars Robbie Amell and Heather Graham.
