In case you haven’t heard, there is a little film called "Boyhood" making a big, big noise. Richard Linklater‘s decade-plus-in-the-making drama about the coming-of-age of a young boy has been earning critical accolades from every corner, and has been doing really well in limited release with some of the best per screen averages of the year (not bad for a movie that runs nearly three hours long). And as you might wager from a movie that aims to spans twelve years in the life of its characters authentically, "Boyhood" touches upon no shortage of pop culture references to signpost where you are in history.
Over at Yahoo, they’ve done a thorough rundown of pretty much every reference to movies, music (the soundtrack list alone is a time capsule) and more in the film. So, what should you keep an eye out for if you haven’t seen the movie yet? Everything from an iMac G3 (those ones with the color dome), Tamagotchis, Obama/Biden election signs, Gameboy Advance and more. The full list is worth checking out but for most of you, this film still hasn’t arrived in your neck of the woods. Well, now you can start making plans as the rollout schedule for the movie has been revealed and you check it out below.
Until then, read our interview with Richard Linklater and our review of the movie.
