Discuss: Do You Want Hear Dan Harmon's Thoughts About 'Community' Season 4 On A DVD Commentary?

nullIf you’re a “Community” fan, you already know the saga, so we’ll keep it brief. Nearing the end of season three, with renewal still a question mark, the show’s creator and visionary Dan Harmon got into an ugly spat with Chevy Chase (who hadn’t helped himself by repeatedly trashing the show), and thanks to other public comments, was effectively canned from the program. NBC re-upped “Community,” and while fans breathed a sigh of relief, the fourth season was mostly perceived to be a disappointment, paling in comparison to Harmon-guided first three seasons. The good news? Harmon is back for season five. And perhaps season four can also be salvaged, albeit in the most curious way possible.

“Sony said they’re very interested in recording me watching it as a commentary track,” Harmon recently told recently told a Cinefamily crowd (via AV Club). It’s actually pretty ballsy on one hand, with the network seemingly acknowledging fans’ dissatisfaction and giving the reins to usually filter-free Harmon to lay bare his true feelings about what he witnessed across the season could potentially be awesome. On the other hand, it’s kind of a shitty thing to do to the writers who did try and do their best with the fourth season. But who knows? Maybe Harmon will actually like season four?

Either way, were you planning on buying season four? If not, does the prospect of Harmon adding his thoughts to every episode make you want to fork over your hard earned cash? Is this even a good idea? “Community” fans, let us know below.
