Disney Reportedly Aiming For Trilogy Of Han Solo Movies Starring Alden Ehrenreich

With Alden Ehrenreich trotted out earlier this month at Star Wars Celebration, before a frame of him in action has been shown, the actor has received the thumbs up to take on the Herculean task of playing young Han Solo in a “Star Wars” spinoff movie. Expectations are already high on the film slated to be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, but it seems that Disney are already keen on more.

The New York Daily News reports that should the Lord/Miller picture do well, Disney will be primed to greenlight more Han Solo, with Alden Ehrenreich already signed to a three-picture deal. Now for the caveats. Multi-picture deals for actors in franchises are quite common these days, and as we’ve seen over in the Marvel-verse, those options could be used for cameo appearances (and it should be noted it’s long been rumored Han Solo would appear in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” something that has only gained traction with the reshoots this summer).

Now, does Disney want the Han Solo movie to do well? Of course. Do they want the option to use the character and Alden Ehrenreich in other movies if possible? Naturally. A trilogy? Well, we’ll see.

The Han Solo flick doesn’t arrive until May 25, 2018 and I’m sure between now and then, Disney will be keeping all creative avenues open.
