Roger Ailes not only has a Showtime limited series starring Russell Crowe and a Jay Roach-directed feature film starring A-listers galore, but the disgraced Fox News boss also has a new documentary tracing his rise and fall coming to theaters later this year.
And in the first trailer for “Divide and Conquer: The Story of Roger Ailes,” we see exactly why one man can not only become one of the most powerful men in media but the subject of so many upcoming major film and TV projects. You see, Roger Ailes was not only the guy that many people know as the boss of Fox News that became embroiled in multiple sexual harassment allegations, but well before that, he was hugely responsible for bringing Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush to the Oval Office.
‘Divide and Conquer’ speaks to a ton of people who have known Ailes throughout the years, dating back to his rise to political prominence in the ‘70s to his most recent fall as head of Fox News. The film debuted at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and is directed by Alexis Bloom, who is probably best known as one of the producers of “We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks.”
“Divide and Conquer: The Story of Roger Ailes” hits select theaters and On Demand on December 7.
Here’s the synopsis:
Divide and Conquer follows the rise & fall of Roger Ailes, controversial Fox News mogul & Republican king-maker. One of the most powerful & divisive figures in media, Ailes would go down in flames amid scandal, paranoia, & multiple sexual harassment allegations.
