'Divorce' Season 3 Trailer: Sarah Jessica Parker & Thomas Haden Church Return With More Postmarital Hijinks

HBO has really expanded its original content offerings over recent years. In the current original content arms race that is also referred to as The Streaming Wars, HBO finds itself trying to keep up with the likes of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. And in doing so, the “specialness” of each series the network puts out is a bit diminished. And that’s how I’m choosing to segue into the discussion about the new season of “Divorce.”

As seen in the first trailer for Season 3 of “Divorce,” HBO has brought back the great actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church as divorced parents trying to make sense of their relatively new status quo, while also dealing with co-parenting, dating, and their wacky friends. Ten years ago, “Divorce” would have been must-see TV, as HBO only had a small number of series and each was pretty great quality. Now, with Season 3, “Divorce” is just another show on the network.

That is, by no means, saying that the series is bad. In fact, it’s well-made and well-acted, with a great cast and funny moments. It’s just that HBO has lost that “specialness” that it once had. So yeah, if you watch “Divorce,” you’ll likely enjoy this trailer and be psyched for Season 3. If not, then you can always stream it and try to catch up. Or just watch “Chernobyl,” “Big Little Lies,” “Game of Thrones,” “Euphoria,” “Watchmen,” “True Detective,” “Barry,” “Westworld,” “Succession,” or any other series the premium cable network has on its slate.

The series stars Parker and Church, alongside Molly Shannon, Talia Balsam, Becki Newton, Sterling Jerins, Charlie Kilgore, Tracy Letts, James Lesure, and Dominic Fumusa.

The third season of “Divorce” is set to premiere on HBO on July 1.

Here’s the synopsis:

The third season of Divorce follows Frances (Parker) and her ex-husband, Robert (Thomas Haden Church), as they encounter several bombshell surprises that spin their post-divorce lives in completely unexpected directions.
