Leaks are the name of the game. No, not leaked Sony emails (for once, thank god), but all information that that isn’t officially announced by a movie studio is arguably just another kind of leak (though as Sony’s emails reveal, much of what the trades report are planned “leaks” by the studios themselves).
So the latest information? Latino Review reveals the names of three actors that Marvel are interested in—Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy and Ken Watanabe—for the role of The Ancient One in “Doctor Strange,” which is scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016.
Last week, Marvel made the official announcement that Benedict Cumberbatch will play Doctor Strange himself. In the comics The Ancient One is the original “sorcerer supreme” and the mentor to Stephen Strange. He also ends up training, but then ultimately rejecting, the character Baron Mordo, who is rumored to be the villain in the movie.
It’s also rumored that Mordo will make a small appearance in "Captain America: Civil War" and that “Doctor Strange” won’t be much of an origin movie. I guess we’ll see. Scott Derrickson ("Sinister") is directing, and Jon Spaihts ("Prometheus") wrote the screenplay.
