“There was a time, a time before cable. When the local anchorman reigned supreme. When people believed everything they heard on TV. This was an age when only men were allowed to read the news. And in San Diego, one anchorman was more man then the rest. His name was Ron Burgundy. He was like a god walking amongst mere mortals. He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. In other words, Ron Burgundy was the balls.”
And yes, “Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy” is still the balls, an unrelentingly quotable and flat out hilarious comedy that pretty much launched Will Ferrell and the rest of the Channel 4 News team. But nearly a full decade has passed, and much has changed, and as one bartender once said, possibly in Spanish: “Ladies can do stuff now and you’re going to learn how to deal with it.” And well, we’ll just learn along with Ron and the gang, seeing as they’re back.
The brand new trailer for “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” has arrived and it’s now the ’80s, the hair is bigger, the competition is fiercer (lol, James Marsden) and Ron seems to be diversifying in the lady department, and learning some interesting lessons. Here’s the official synopsis:
With the 70’s behind him, San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” Also back for more are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) – All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy…while taking New York’s first 24-hour news channel by storm.
