Don't Worry Mom: The Most Graphic Scenes Of 'Breaking Dawn' Will Happen Offscreen

If you’re one of the few people who are in love with all things “Twilight” but haven’t read the books, this post has spoilers. But if you’re a Twi-hard and have read the books (or if you’re like us, you haven’t, and you don’t give a shit) read on.

One of the trickiest aspects in bringing “Breaking Dawn” to the big screen was the length of 756-page book. Well, that problem was solved with Summit making new deals for all the actors involved and breaking it up into two films that will shoot this fall with Bill Condon directing. However, “Breaking Dawn” is also the most graphic entry in the series with Bella losing her virginity resulting in a bloody childbirth for her vampire/human hybrid daughter Rensemee. So how to put all that fun stuff on screen for a film that can’t/won’t be rated R? Just put all that nasty stuff offscreen.

Speaking with the LA Times, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg says that while, “On the fan site, on Facebook, all the comments are ‘It has to be R rated! You have to show the childbirth! Gore and guts and sex!’ she feels that ” it’s actually more interesting to not see it. You know, you can do childbirth without seeing childbirth … it doesn’t mean it’s any less evocative of an experience.” We suppose she has a point, and really, it’s not like “Twilight” enthusiasm for the films will diminish because they won’t see Kristen Stewart’s afterbirth.

So Moms who cringe at a little bit of blood or are worried their tweener daughters will see something they shouldn’t, don’t worry. All that gross stuff won’t get in the way of looking at dreamy Robert Pattinson’s face or Taylor Lautner’s ripped abs.
