Well, there’s no doubt that Kelsey Grammer knows how to play bad. For years he terrorized Bart Simpson as the voice of Sideshow Bob on “The Simpsons,” and the recently canceled “Boss” found him as a scheming politician. But he also knows how to turn a phrase and work it over, as he adeptly showed paying the lead on the hit sitcom “Frasier,” and yet, a notable big screen career has eluded the actor. There’s only so much “Down Periscope” a nation can take. But now the actor is going to the school of Michael Bay.
Grammer has landed the villain role in “Transformers 4,” where he’ll star alongside Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci and Jack Reynor. Plot details are of course under wraps (like they matter). Grammer will play the blandly named Harold Attinger, a counter-intelligence who we presume has intelligence he uses to counter the Autobots or whatever. EXPLOSIONS! VICTORIA’S SECRET MODELS! RANDOM CHINESE REALITY SHOW WINNERS! Yes, this is a Michael Bay movie in case you forgot.
Production begins later this year and the movie opens on June 27, 2014. [Deadline]
