Karen Gillan in on the verge of her big breakout. Sure, she’s been featured in some of the biggest films of the last several years, with roles in two “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, two “Jumanji” films, and two “Avengers” films. But all of those appearances have been in supporting roles, without the necessary spotlight for Gillan to showcase everything she’s capable of. Well, perhaps that will change in her upcoming sci-fi film, “Dual.”
Gillan is now set to star in Riley Stearns’ upcoming sci-fi flick, “Dual,” where she’ll play not one, but two separate roles in the cloning tale. Joining Gillan in the cast are Aaron Paul, Beulah Koale, Martha Kelly, and Jesse Eisenberg.
Here’s the synopsis:
After receiving a terminal diagnosis, a woman (Gillan) opts for a cloning procedure to ease her loss on her friends and family. When she makes a miraculous recovery, her attempts to have her clone decommissioned fail and lead to a court-mandated duel to the death.
In addition to her roles in the aforementioned films, Gillan also recently wrote, directed, and starred in the film “The Party’s Just Beginning.” She also is set to appear in the upcoming film, “Gunpowder Milkshake,” where she stars opposite Lena Headey, Paul Giamatti, Carla Gugino, and Michelle Yeoh.
Aaron Paul is probably best known for his work in the acclaimed AMC drama series, “Breaking Bad.” Most recently, he’s had a starring role in Season 3 of HBO’s “Westworld.” Eisenberg, of course, is a big name and has recently been seen in films such as “Vivarium” and “Resistance.”
“Dual” is written and directed by Stearns, who previously helmed films such as “Faults” and the criminally-underseen “The Art of Self-Defense,” which starred Eisenberg.
There’s no release date or distributor set for “Dual,” but the film is being produced by XYZ Films.
