As predicted, it would appear the return of the Dude, that was teased by actor Jeff Bridges has little to do with any sequels or spin-offs of “The Big Lebowski.” Instead, the Dude returns in a new ad for beer.
In the new Super Bowl ad for Stella Artois, we are first shown Sarah Jessica Parker, bringing back her famous Carrie Bradshaw character from “Sex and the City.” Instead of her customary Cosmopolitan, the well-dressed lady orders a Stella Artois, causing great shock from those in the restaurant. Then, we see Bridges come into the scene, as the Dude, and when offered a White Russian, he politely declines, asking instead for a “Stella Ar-toes.”
And yes, he does say, “The Dude abides.”
Sadly, even with all the massive hype about the return of the Dude, the Super Bowl ad in question doesn’t even feature the actor as much as we anticipated. Out of the 43 seconds seen in the ad, Bridges only appears in half the time, leaving ‘Lebowski’ fans with only about 22 seconds of the Dude.
One bit of good news for film fans that were bummed about having to sit through an almost-four-hour football game to see the ad, you won’t have to anymore. Now, you can stream the commercial as many times as you want without having to bore yourself with a football game that you probably don’t even care about.

Of course, we’ll have to see if this year’s Super Bowl ads feature anymore returning film favorites, as the companies have been known to spend millions on bringing back recognizable actors and characters to drum up interest in whatever product they’re promoting.
