Duncan Jones To Direct Conspiracy Thriller TV Series 'Killer Intent'

After the ho-hum reception that his latest film, “Mute,” received after its debut on Netflix, all eyes have been on filmmaker Duncan Jones’ next project. Last month, we assumed that the film project he was teasing on Twitter would be the director’s next gig. However, according to a new press release, it looks like Jones is going to take a quick detour on the TV side of things for the upcoming thriller series, “Killer Intent.”

The series, which will be directed by Jones and produced by his Liberty Films production company, tells the story of intelligence agent Joe Dempsey, Irish barrister Michael Devlin, and American television journalist Sarah Truman as they try to unravel a conspiracy around an attempted assassination. “Killer Intent” is based on the novel of the same name by author Tony Kent, who will also take part in adapting his novel for the series, alongside a complete writers’ room.

“Tony’s writing style is already so cinematic, working with him and a room of writers to adapt his first book will be a thrill. I’m excited to get my teeth into some contemporary set action, and have time to develop characters over a series rather than a single film,” said Jones.

“It’s an extraordinary honor to have Duncan Jones and Liberty Films adapting ‘Killer Intent’ for TV. I’m absolutely blown away to be working with such outstanding talent, particularly as I have been a big fan going right back to the release of ‘Moon’ almost 10 years ago,” said Kent.

“I’ve loved the work of John Grisham and Lee Child for years. When I read an early draft of ‘Killer Intent,’ I knew it was special and deserved a place on the shelf, and on the screen, alongside those authors. Having spent a great deal of time with Tony discussing his characters and the journeys they will embark on in future books, I know television is the right medium in which to do them justice,” Liberty Films’ Stuart Fenegan said.

There’s no release date or network for the series yet.
