We don’t always see Edward Norton exercise his comedy chops, but he’s definitely got ’em. From last year’s “Moonrise Kingdom” to the underseen “Leaves Of Grass” to the underrated “Everyone Says I Love You“, even to his directorial effort “Keeping The Faith,” the actor has got a funny bone. And lucky for us, he’s going to put it to use once again.
Norton has joined Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu‘s comedy “Birdman” set to star alongside the already excellent cast of Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts and Zach Galifianakis. Based on a Raymond Chandler short story, the narrative centers on a former actor who once played an iconic superhero and mounts a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim his past glories. But his efforts to return to the spotlight are threatened by the egotistical leading actor of the play, set to be played by Norton. Keaton will be the ex-superhero who he butts heads with Stone as his recently rehabbed daughter and assistant. Galifianakis takes the role of the play’s producer, with Watts as one of the actresses. Awesome.
Lensing starts in April, the film has a home at Fox Searchlight and frankly, we can’t wait to see this thing. [Deadline]
