The political drama surrounding former US Congresswoman Katie Hill is not as cut and dry as the behind-the-scenes drama that normally accompanies political figures that have a “fall from grace.” Unlike some of her male counterparts who have resigned due to corruption, Hill resigned from her elected office after nude photos leaked of her and she admitted to having a relationship with one of her staff. It’s a situation that has been debated in the media and with pundits since it occurred and will now be the subject of a new film from Blumhouse.

According to Variety, Blumhouse has landed the rights to Hill’s memoir, “She Will Rise: Becoming a Warrior in the Battle for True Equality,” and has named Elisabeth Moss as the woman who will portray the former congresswoman in the forthcoming film adaptation. As mentioned, the film will follow the events that led to Hill’s election into Congress and her shocking departure from office. The film will be written by Michael Seitzman.
“I am so honored to have the opportunity to portray Katie and to help tell her story. Her strength and work to amplify women’s voices is incredibly inspiring to me and her experiences could not be more important for us to magnify right now,” said Moss. “As always, Jason and the Blumhouse team are such incredible partners and Lindsey and I are thrilled to make something powerful with them and Michael.”

Blumhouse founder Jason Blum added, “We pursued this project because we believe in Katie and her message of empowering women and breaking the system. And with Elisabeth and the force of what she brings on and off the camera, we hope this will be a powerful vehicle to inspire and for change.”
It’s unclear when the film will begin production or when we might see Moss in action as Hill. However, the film is expected to eventually land a streaming partner, who will distribute the project.
