Elle Fanning Gets Bloody In New Promo Posters For Francis Ford Coppola's 'Twixt'

So who would’ve thought that at Comic-Con over the weekend, the most groundbreaking presentation would come from 72 year-old filmmaking legend Francis Ford Coppola? Indeed, the director showed the young whippersnappers how it’s done with a presentation of his forthcoming gothic horror pic “Twixt” that included 3D Edgar Allan Poe masks and a screening of footage that Coppola remixed live all from his iPad. Not bad. We’ve already seen a few pics from the film, suggesting a surreal, atmospheric vibe, but if these promo posters are anything to go by, Coppola won’t be holding back on the red stuff either.

Featuring a bloody and spooky Elle Fanning, these one sheets certainly offer up a scarier hint of whatever Coppola has in store. Boasting an intriguing ensemble that also includes Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley, Bruce Dern, Ben Chaplin, Don Novello, David Paymer, Anthony Fusco and Alden Ehrenreich, the film was inspired by a dream Coppola had and is said to be tonally similar to the works of Hawthorne or Poe. Sweet. The story follows a Mario Puzo-like writer (Kilmer) with a declining career, who arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl (a ghostly Fanning). The film will be in 2D with two 3D sequences — that will include a prompt to audiences to put on their glasses — arriving in the middle and at the end of the film. The director plans to tour the film with live presentations that will find him cutting the picture and score (by Dan Deacon) on the fly with every audience getting their own unique version.

“Twixt” will hit TIFF in September and we presume Coppola will attend with his iPad in hand. Check out the posters and another new still from the film below. [Movielicious]
