So this “music video” is making the rounds of Ellen Page and Alia Shawkat aka Maeby Fünke from “Arrested Development” is making the rounds. Everyone’s asking for a moratorium on this song which is reasonable, but we’re simply sayin’: is it too much for Page to hit the melodies in time with the rhythm? Seriously, Ellen, you like music and gave Jason Reitman the musical “Juno” idea to use the Moldy Peach… oh, right, we get it, nevermind.
The thing that immediately comes to mind: is this some sort of pre viral marketing for “Whip It!” Drew Barrymore’s upcoming directorial debut that stars both Page and Shawkat? Considering it has Har Mar Superstar singing in the clip as well — who also has a bit part in the movie — uhh, we’d say yes. Or at least, they sure as shit got along real well on-set and now are all BFF’s. Har Mar also has a small role in the film, “Love, Still” that screened last year at TIFF and was directed by well-intentioned Saddle Creek-related young video director Nik Fackler, but the film hasn’t come out yet for good reason… Anywho, does this mean Journey’s song is in “Whip It!” or this just random speculation on our part. The soundtrack details we’ve discerned so far are all here.
