Emily Blunt & Ricky Gervais Join The Cast Of Jason Segel's 'The Muppets'

Is Emily Blunt about to be offered” a role opposite Jason Segel in his gestating romantic comedy “Five-Year Engagement” from director Nicholas Stoller? Possibly and all signs point to yes. Especially since Blunt was just added to the cast of Segel’s “The Muppets” also co-written by Stoller. Evidently they’re fans as they offered her the role of Jackie Q in “Get Him To The Greek,” but the British thespian had to pass due to obligations for Fox’s “Gulliver’s Travels” (which Segel not-so-coincidentally co-starred in).

Got at all that? Jason Segel + Nicholas Stoller + Emily Blunt = mutual admiration society and we can see why, they’re all talented and seem like lovely folks (esp Segel, see his penis in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall“?).

We digress. Two English actors have joined the cast of “The Muppets.” And the second is British comedian Ricky Gervais.

According to THR, they are two more celebrity cameos — some of which we told you about from the script in February — that so far include Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis and Jean-Claude Van Damme. The film already includes Jason Segel, Rashida Jones, Chris Cooper and Amy Adams and it seems like all of Hollywood wants a piece of the beloved Muppets.

Also rumored, but not confirmed is Paul Rudd, Lady Gaga, Ed Helms, John Krasinski, Jane Lynch and possibly Danny Trejo.

Scripted by Segel and Stoller, James Bobin (”Flight Of The Conchords”) is directing the film already in progress and aiming to hit theaters on December 25, 2011.
