English Trailer For Massy Tadjedin's Romantic Drama 'Last Night' Finally Unveiled

Days after we reported on the Italian poster and trailer for Massy Tadjedin‘s romantic drama “Last Night,” the same trailer has now been unveiled by Pathé Films complete with the original English language dialogue in place.

As odd as it sounds though, we have to admit preference for the Italian version — when our lack of understanding meant the suspicion and accusations weren’t being thrown around within the first few lines of dialogue and the story seemingly played out with more drama and subtlety. On the other hand, at least it’s good to hear all the actors using their four different natural accents.

Starring the promising quartet of Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, Eva Mendes and Guillaume Canet, the film follows the story of a married couple whose commitment to each other is tested when they are apart for a night; the husband away on work with a colleague he’s attracted to and the wife as she coincidentally runs into a past love.

One of the strong voices behind the film’s positive festival screenings was Movieline’ Stu Vanairsdale who lauded the film for “impressive writing, visual command and generally strong performances” calling it a “part Euro-flavored romance, part suspense-thriller [that’s] elegant filmmaking at the very least” and describing it as “‘Before Sunrise’ meets ‘Eyes Wide Shut.’”

The film doesn’t have a stateside release yet due to Miramax‘s pending sale, but those issues are looking likely to be cleared up by the new year. [PathéFilms]
