It’s not really a surprise that Eric Roberts has signed to star in the horror sequel no one cares about (do they?) “The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence).” After all, this is the guy who makes a movie more frequently than people take showers (seriously, look at his IMDb page) and has no quality barometer at all. Oh, he was in “The Dark Knight“? Yeah, well he was also in “A Halloween Puppy” (watch the trailer here) and most of his choices tend to fall into the latter category of crap. Basically, if there’s a catering table, he’ll be there. Anyway, he’ll be Tom Six‘s magnum opus, which will feature 500 people stitched ass-to-mouth if you’re into that sort of thing. No word yet on his role or if he’ll be part of the chain. [EW]
Speaking of sequels and stitches, the very funny T.J. Miller has taken a role in “Transformers 4” where he’ll feature alongside Mark Walhberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, a C7 Corvette Stingray and Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse. He’ll be bro-ing out playing “a blue-collar mechanic who is a longtime friend of Wahlberg’s character.” [The Wrap]
Danny Huston has joined Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams in Tim Burton‘s promising drama (yes, really) “Big Eyes.” The film will tell the true story of married couple Walter and Margaret Keane, who became art world phenomenons in the 1950s and 1960s thanks to their paintings of large-eyed children. However, when they split up, a legal battle ensued, with Walter trying to take credit for paintings which were actually done by his wife. Huston will tackle the role of “a burnt-out, heavy-drinking gossip reporter.” [THR]
Joel McHale will exercise some different acting chops, or snark his way through the thriller “Beware The Night” with Eric Bana and Olivia Munn. Director Scott Derrickson‘s film will center on Bana as an Irish Catholic NYPD detective who, while working on a murder case, runs into a “renegade priest” — to be played by Edgar Ramirez — who is convinced that “a demonic element” is at play. McHale will play Bana’s cop buddy. [THR]
Lastly, Katherine McPhee has rebounded from canceled NBC series “Smash” to star in the Dennis Lehane penned “Depravity.” “The Fighter” writer Paul Tamasy will make his directorial debut with the film about a group of roommates “who accidentally kill an innocent man they thought was a thrill killer. It sends the group into a world unhinged from any moral compass, one in which they may be forced to confront not only the evil around them but the evil within them as well.” McPhee will play the woman they try to pin the crime on.
