Report: Character Breakdowns Reveal Thanos' Brother Could Appear In Marvel's 'The Eternals'

Marvel’s Phase Four, which is slated to kick off after next year’s “Avengers 4,” is still shrouded in mystery. Through interviews with Kevin Feige (and a healthy dose of common sense), we can deduce quite a few of the films that should factor in, but by and large, we honestly don’t have much of a clue about what happens post-2019. However, one thing that seems like a lock is “The Eternals.” And now, thanks to a new report, we have an idea of what Eternals Marvel hopes will be your new favorite characters.

That Hashtag Show provides what it thinks is the lineup of characters that are scheduled to appear in “The Eternals.” For those not aware with the franchise (and unless you’re a dedicated reader of the Marvel Universe comics, you probably don’t), “The Eternals” tells the story of an ancient race of humans with extraordinary powers, created by the Marvel equivalent of the “gods” that protect the world. Many of their adventures take place in space and are very, very trippy.

Of the characters rumored to show up in the film, the main ones seem to resemble who appears in almost every ‘Eternals’ comic book iteration. Fans will no doubt recognize Ikaris, Makkari, and Sersi. The report also suggests that the casting reveals that Druig will be the villain. As for their power sets, if you’re interested, they are varied and generally fall in the ultra-powerful side of the spectrum. These aren’t the people that show up in Hell’s Kitchen and foil bank robbers. These are people that fight for much higher stakes.

One of the more interesting aspects of the report is the inclusion of Starfox, aka Eros of Titan. If you’ve seen “Avengers: Infinity War,” you’ll no doubt know that Thanos hails from Titan. Eros is the brother of Thanos, but don’t get them confused — Eros is no Mad Titan. His powers, as his name would suggest, is able to stimulate the pleasure centers of those he comes close to. So yeah, he’s a Master Seducer, basically. And if you want to go down the Wikipedia rabbit-hole, feel free to read about his storyline where She-Hulk defends him in a sexual assault trial. Yep, that happened.

There’s a fair bit of speculation in the report, as well (fairly common for these sorts of “exclusives). One such speculation is a casting that describes only “Male Lead” and says he’s a “Greek God.” The report suggests Hercules (the Marvel version, not the Dwayne Johnson version). If that’s the case, Marvel Comics fans will be very happy.

As for when we’ll be able to confirm any of this, the best guess is sometime next year, post-“Avengers 4.” All we know at this point is that Marvel Studios is working on “The Eternals” and they’ve hired indie director Chloe Zhao. As for a possible release date? Safe bet is 2020. Let’s just hope they skip the whole Starfox sexual assault trial storyline.
