Ewan McGregor & Ethan Hawke To Play Half-Brothers In 'Raymond & Ray'

Today, Apple Studios announced a new drama, “Raymond & Ray,” which will star Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke as half-brothers. The new film is written and directed by Rodrigo García (“In Treatment,” “Albert Nobbs”), who previously worked with McGregor on “Last Days In The Desert.”

Raymond and Ray have lived in the shadow of their terrible father their entire lives and now are looking to reinvent themselves during his funeral with humor, anger, folly, and maybe even love.

The producing team consists of Alfonso Cuarón (“Roma,” “Gravity”), Bonnie Curtis (“Saving Private Ryan,” “Albert Nobbs”), and Julie Lynn (“Albert Nobbs,” “To The Bone”) via Mockingbird Pictures.

Gabriela Rodriguez and Shea Kammer will also executive produce the pic.

“Raymond & Ray” is part of a push at Apple to get more high-profile film projects at the streaming service and hopefully attract more creatives to the platform in an attempt to grow their audience/subscriber base.

Other upcoming projects part of their lineup of Apple Originals include Martin Scorsese‘s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Tom Hanks‘ sci-fi flick “Finch,” “Swan Song,” Joel Coen’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” and the A24 movie “Shaper” starring Julianne Moore.

Ewan McGregor has been recently shooting “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” a limited series for Lucasfilm focusing on the beloved Jedi character he played in George Lucas‘ “Star Wars” prequels. He’ll also star in a new Doug Liman (“Edge of Tomorrow“) project, “Everest.” Meanwhile, Hawke has been gobbling-up roles with Marvel‘s “Moon Knight” series, Rian Johnson‘s “Knives Out” sequel, and Abel Ferrara’s “Zeroes & Ones.”
