As mentioned, “The Guilty” is based on the Danish feature and tells the story of a 911 call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) and what happens over the course of one day in his life. The day begins with a seemingly grave call from someone who claims their life is in danger, but it’s soon revealed that nothing is what it seems and there’s way more to the story than just what Joe is being told.

Fuqua is set to direct and joins Gyllenhaal in a project for the first time since they collaborated on “Southpaw.” “The Guilty” remake is written by “True Detective” mastermind Nic Pizzolatto. There’s no release date yet.
