'Euphoria' Special Episode Trailer: "Trouble Don’t Last Always" Airs December 6

You’ll recall the story: HBO’s “Euphoria” was caught in the middle of the pandemic and wasn’t able to start season two in earnest. In fact, season two won’t even start shooting until early 2021.  But HBO found a workaround and stopgap to give fans of the acclaimed drama series something: a “special COVID episode.” Now, we’re getting a first glimpse of what that means as HBO debuted the official trailer and key art for the first of two upcoming “Euphoria” special episodes. Titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always.” The first episode will debut on Sunday, December 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and HBO Max.

Here’s the official synopsis for the two-part episode and reveals that Colman Domingo (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”), will continue on in the series, or at least for these next two eps.

In the aftermath of being left by Jules at the train station and relapsing, the first special episode follows Rue (played by Emmy®-winner Zendaya) as she celebrates Christmas. Jules (played by Hunter Schafer) will also appear in the episode. Written and directed by series creator Sam Levinson, the episode, titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always,” also stars Colman Domingo, who appeared in season one. The title and date of the second episode are forthcoming. Both special episodes were produced under COVID-19 guidelines.

Created and written by Sam Levinson, who also serves as executive producer, “Euphoria” received three Primetime Emmy® Awards this year, including Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series (Zendaya), Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.

Executive producers on the series include Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Drake, Future the Prince,  Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, Tmira Yardeni, Mirit Toovi, Yoram Mokady, and Gary Lennon; Will Greenfield serves as a co-executive producer. Produced in partnership with A24 and based on the Israeli series of the same name, which Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin created, from HOT.
