Well, here’s a trailer that’s a bit of a misdirect. The first teaser for “Euphoria” promises to bring viewers to a bucolic environment with Eva Green and Alicia Vikander, for what looks like a wonderful romp in a resort style paradise. That’s not quite the case.
The new movie from director Lisa Langseth (“Pure,” “Hotel“) marks her third feature with Vikander, with the film following a young woman who joins her estranged sister at a gorgeous estate, where the latter, suffering from a terminal illness, has decided to end her life. Yeah, so it’s not all sunshine and roses. The resulting film doesn’t quite spark the dramatic fireworks you think it might (here’s our review), but it nonetheless gives two showcase roles to two great actresses. Plus Charlotte Rampling and Charles Dance in support doesn’t hurt either.
“Euphoria” opens in Sweden on February 2, 2018. No word yet on a U.S. date. [Cine Maldito]
