You know what? Sometimes The Playlist team loves big, dumb, stupid fun and we really hope that the forthcoming “The Other Guys” with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg fits the bill. We were amused by the first trailer that was unveiled back in April, and now we get another look at the film thanks to the international trailer.
While it boasts mostly the same footage and scenes from its domestic counterpart, it features a pretty hilarious closing clip with Eva Mendes, which seems to indicate her scenes with Ferrell and Wahlberg might be some of the funniest in the film. It’s a little strange that Steve Coogan who plays the film’s main villain, is excised from the international clip where we figured his presence might be more known.
Anyway, in case the trailer didn’t make it plainly obvious, the film follows two mismatched New York City detectives (Wahlberg, Ferrell) who seize an opportunity to step up like the city’s top cops whom they idolize (Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson) — only things don’t quite go as planned. The pretty amazing cast includes Michael Keaton, Anne Heche, Damon Wayons Jr., Ray Stevenson and a bunch of other faces you’ll be sure to recognize.
“The Other Guys” opens on August 6th.
