If there was any concern following the poorly received “X-Men: Apocalypse” that 20th Century Fox wouldn’t be able to retain its high wattage cast to keep the franchise going, then guess again. The studio has taken many by surprise with “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” which brings Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee back into the fold, and has lined up Jessica Chastain as the villain. Now, one more X-player is getting back into the mix.

Evan Peters will reprise his fan favorite turn as Quicksilver in “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.” The character’s scenes have been the highlight of the previous two X-installments, so it’s not a big surprise that Fox wants more.
Meanwhile, Lamar Johnson (“The Next Step“) has also joined the film in an undisclosed role, while Alice Braga has replaced Rosario Dawson as the super-powered Dr. Cecilia Reyes.
Longtime franchise producer Simon Kinberg makes his directorial debut with “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” which is now filming in Montreal, and will open on November 2, 2018. [The Hollywood Reporter]
