When “Paddington” was released in 2014, it didn’t get much fanfare in the US. The film didn’t have a massive opening weekend that everyone wrote about. However, with an incredible 98% Rotten Tomatoes score, the film wound up powering toward a domestic total of $76 million and a worldwide gross of $268 million. Those numbers ensured we’d see a sequel.
Now, with the trailer just released for the upcoming “Paddington 2,” viewers are getting a taste of what they’ll see in the new project. To no surprise, it’s very reminiscent of the previous “Paddington.” Pretty much everyone is back this time, headlined by Ben Whishaw returning to voice the titular bear. The trailer shows the first bit of footage of what is sure to be another sweet, funny children’s movie.
“Paddington 2” tells the story of the lovable Paddington, who is now a respected member of his community. He is working odd jobs to get enough money to buy a great gift for Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, but then drama ensues when someone steals that precious gift, with Hugh Grant and Brendan Gleeson joining the ensemble.
“Paddington 2” is going to be released November 10 in the UK and January 12, 2018 in the US.
