When ABC’s sitcom “Suburgatory” debuted in the fall of 2011, the show’s star, Jane Levy, immediately caught our eye. Last year, she was on our list of ten actresses destined for the big time and she has yet to disappoint thus far. She plays the lead role in the upcoming “Evil Dead” remake, which comes out in April, and now she’s got another big role to add to her plate.
THR reports that Levy will be playing the lead in the horror thriller “In A Dark Place” with Bharat Nalluri (“Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day”) slated to direct. The film follows “an American woman who moves to England to become the governess of a porcelain doll, which the family treats as its own son. When the family leaves for a holiday, the woman begins to think the doll is haunted and may be alive.” Um…all right…. The film’s expected to begin production this May.
It’s great to see Miss Levy take on another lead role even if it kinda sounds like a “Child’s Play” riff, though we hope it's something a bit more psychological in nature. “Evil Dead” should be a good indicator on how well she can handle herself in the horror genre. “In a Dark Place” will most likely be aiming for a 2014 release, while the Sam Raimi remake hits SXSW in March before opening on April 5th.
