Here’s the official poster for the “Sound Of My Voice,” a psychological drama that is set to make its debut at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival.
The film first flew onto our radar at the end of last year when it was revealed that director and co-writer Zal Batmanglij‘s brother just happened to be Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend who would also be contributing a soundtrack to the film. And while that’s cool, it was really the premise of the film that got us hooked. Produced by Hans Ritter and Shelley Surpin, the film chronicles a couple’s infiltration into a California cult and what happens when they meet the group’s leader. The film stars Brit Marling (who also co-wrote and produced the film), Christopher Denham, Nicole Vicius and Avery Pohl.
The film will have its premiere in Park City on Monday, January 24th and we’re definitely curious and intrigued by this one. You can check out the official synopsis and full size poster below.
Peter and Lorna, a young Silver Lake couple, delve into the underworld of a cult that meets in the San Fernando Valley. At the center of the group is an enigmatic young woman named Maggie who never leaves her basement chamber. The members follow Maggie blindly—growing her food, obsessively sanitizing the house, giving her their own blood for transfusions. But why? We follow Peter and Lorna as they smuggle hidden cameras into Maggie’s basement bent on exposing her as a charlatan and freeing the members from her spell. But when they themselves fall prey to Maggie’s mind games all bets are off.
