Go big or go home. That’s apparently the message for Steven Soderbergh’s “Logan Lucky,” his return to feature filmmaking. While the project features an all-star cast including Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig, Riley Keough, Adam Driver, Katherine Heigl, Seth MacFarlane, and the recently added Hilary Swank, there’s one more player coming on board. Sources close to the project have revealed to the Playlist that rising star Katherine Waterston has joined the ensemble of the picture.

The film revolves around brothers who attempt to pull off a heist at a NASCAR race, with Swank as the FBI agent tracking them down. Waterson’s role in the film is being kept under wraps for now, but pre-production has started and filming will get underway this fall.
She was included in our 2015 On The Rise feature list, and Waterston has certainly moved up through the ranks quickly. Last year she co-starred in Danny Boyle’s “Steve Jobs” and Alex Ross Perry’s claustrophobic indie “Queen Of Earth.” The year before, she had a meaty role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Inherent Vice” and this year she’ll co-star in the “Harry Potter” spin-off film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”
Late last year, she was cast as the main female character in Ridley Scott’s prequel “Alien: Covenant.”
Spoiler removed at the request of the studio.
So big things are ahead for Waterston. No release date yet for “Logan Lucky,” but “Alien: Covenant” opens on August 4, 2017.
