SXSW audiences are an enthusiastic yet discerning crowd, and when they get behind a picture, it's usually one worth sitting up and paying attention to. In recent years, films like "Bridesmaids," "Kill List" and "The Raid" all rocked folks in Austin, generating buzz that later helped these pictures as they made their way to theaters. This fall, another title will be hoping for the same boost.
Ciarán Foy's psychological horror picture "Citadel" took home the SXSW Midnight Audience Award in March, and we've got the exclusive poster for the film, which gives an ominous tease of what's to come. The story centers on Tommy Cowley (Aneurin Barnard) who is attacked alongside his pregnant wife, and after a shocking act of violence, is left to raise his newborn daughter alone. Suffering from agoraphobia, Tommy undergoes intense therapy and works hard to return to a normal life, but the same hooded gang returns, seemingly intent on kidnapping his daughter, forcing him to take on the thugs to save his family.
A powerful premise indeed, and "Citadel" will be landing in theaters on October 19th, just in time to thrill you on Halloween. Check out the full poster below and hit the official Facebook page for more details.
