Exclusive: Poster & Theatrical Tour Dates For 'Bindlestiffs' Presented By Kevin Smith's SModcast Pictures

nullWhile Kevin Smith begins to wind down his directing career, he's combining his experience in the industry, online savvy and massive following and putting that energy into his new SModcast Pictures distribution shingle. Using the template established by "Red State," Smith plans to acquire films and present them in a roadshow/touring format in theaters around the country before they get released to VOD and DVD. And for his first release, he's picked up an indie film that will certain benefit from his support.

This year's Slamdance Audience Award winner, "Bindlestiffs," will hit the road in June before landing on VOD at the end of the month, and we've got the exclusive poster for the film below, which gives a pretty good sense of the spirit it will be bringing to the big screen. Directed by Andrew Edison, the story centers on three virginal high school boys who get suspended from school and flee the city to live out the plot of "The Catcher In The Rye," and get into some trouble along the way. The SModcast presentation will include Q&As with Kevin Smith and filmmakers Andrew Edison and Luke Loftin after each screening and it will make stops on both coasts of the country and indie film-friendly Austin as well. You can check out full synopsis, poster and theatrical dates below. If it doesn't come near you, don't worry — "Bindlestiffs" will be available on VOD on June 19th.

Three underage, virgin, prep-school misfits, suspended on a bogus graffiti charge, flee to the inner city in an attempt to live the plot of The Catcher in the Rye – a book they have neither read, much less understand. This motion picture graphically portrays their noble quest to surrender their virginities (as well as shed their sobriety and sanity) to the encountered gatekeepers of “real experience”: vagrants, prostitutes, and crack fiends. Hot on their tail is Charlie, a paranoid, deranged security guard, who, convinced that they plan to stage a school shooting, aims to shut them down and save his piece of America.
