With hundreds of films to choose from at numerous festivals throughout the year, standing out from the pack is no easy feat. But when it comes to “It Felt Like Love,” it was a picture that resonated with us and others long after the Sundance Film Festival wrapped in 2013, with our Katie Walsh writing in her review that the film “marks the arrival of a new crop of talent to watch, behind the camera and in front.” And with “It Felt Like Love” making its way to theaters soon, you’ll see exactly what she was talking about.

Written and directed by Eliza Hittman, and led by newcomer Gina Piersanti, the film is set during an uneventful Brooklyn summer, and follows the lonely Lila, who develops an unhealthy fixation on an older thug named Sammy. In her pursuit of romance, Lila places herself in a dangerous vulnerable situation. And as you’ll see in this exclusive trailer, we get a sense of the longing for connection and the uneasy and threatening milieu that Lila enters as she searches for love.

“It Felt Like Love” will start rolling out in limited release in March. Click here for showtimes.
