Exclusive: U.S. Poster For Cate Shortland's WWII Drama 'Lore'

nullIf you're a longtime reader of The Playlist, you likely already know that Australian director Cate Shortland is a filmmaker we've kept an eye on. The helmer broke out with "Somersault" in 2004, which featured early, excellent performances from two people you might have heard of: Abbie Cornish and Sam Worthington. And while we had to wait eight long years for her next feature, the filmmaker returned in 2012 with "Lore," a WWII drama, that is more lyrical and evocative that you might expect.

Set in the spring of 1945, with the war's end not too far away, the story follows Hannelore (Saskia Rosendahl) and her siblings, whose parents are on the run. Her father is an SS officer, and his options for freedom for himself and his own family are narrowing, and soon he is snatched up with his wife by the Allies. This forces Hannelore — Lore — to journey with the children to meet their grandmother in the north, but along the way she meets Thomas, a Jewish refugee, who tests everything she's been taught.

Below, we've got the exclusive U.S. poster premiere for "Lore." After playing the festival circuit last year, with stops in Toronto, Locarno, Rio De Janeiro, London, Sydney, Stockholm and more, Australia's official Oscar entry "Lore" will open in limited release in the United States on February 8th.null
