It seems we've talking about Tran Anh Hung's "Norwegian Wood" for a while now, and with good reason. The film comes the Oscar nominated director of "The Scent Of Green Papaya" and is an adaptation of celebrated writer Haruki Murikami's novel of the same name. Well, after spending some time on the festival circuit, "Norwegian Wood" will head to theaters in 2012 and we've got the exclusive U.S. poster to share.
Starring Rinko Kikuchi ("Babel," "The Brothers Bloom"), Kenichi Matsuyama and Kiko Mizuhara, the film is a coming-of-age story told in flashback, centering on a student (Matsuyama) and his relationship with two women: the beautiful but fragile Naoko (Kikuchi) and lively, outgoing Midori (Mizuhara). Yes, the Beatles song plays a vital role in the story and film is rounded out by a score from Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood. If that isn't enough, "In The Mood For Love" cinematographer Mark Lee Bing lensed the picture. Promising stuff indeed.
Soda Pictures will team with Red Flag Releasing to get the movie into cinemas starting with New York City on January 6, 2012. Full poster below.
