F. Gary Gray No Longer Directing 'Kane & Lynch'?

Take it as a rumor for now, but this comes from some very reliable sources who have been good to us and very accurate in the past.

We’re hearing that F. Gary Gray, tipped back in June to direct the gestating videogame adaptation “Kane & Lynch” with Jamie Foxx and Bruce Willis, has moved on from the project. No reasons were given, but apparently Patrick Alessandrin (“District 13: Ultimatum”) is now being sought for the gig. Gray now joins second-unit and stunt director Simon Crane and Wayne Kramer (“The Cooler,” “Running Scared”) in the revolving door of talent that has been linked the director’s chair.

We’re also hearing that the script by Kyle Ward (“Hitman 2”) is being given a re-write by Skip Woods (“The A-Team,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”).

The film would see Willis playing a mercenary who gets framed and then is broken out of prison by his former mates who’ve kidnapped his wife and daughter. They give him 72 hours to recover a doomsday device. Foxx will play his partner, a ticking time bomb of a guy prone to violent rages.

Production is now tentatively scheduled to begin in September.
